I’m Sunny (she/they/he pronouns)!
I work mostly on documentation-oriented linguistics, the two specific flavors that get me most excited is computational stuff (like what Pat is doing, building tools informed by the users themselves, it all kinda started for me with my distaste for FLEx), and variationist sociolinguistics (APLV is one of my favorite journals, especially in terms of what it represents). I also really want to work on technology with members of communities where documentation projects exist(ed), so we can create tools for enthusiastic speakers.

I’m currently a student at UT Austin, hoping to apply for PhD programs in the fall (I’m always looking to chat with people about that!).

I’m not really sure how personal we’re getting but it’s not like this is private information, so I’ll just add that my non linguistic hobbies include swing dancing (and to a lesser extent salsa), theatre (especially comedy and improv), tabletop games, and knitting/crocheting! But don’t let that list fool you, I’m incredibly talented at binge-watching.

(The website I’m linking in this profile is my tumblr, which is completely non-professional, but it has a lot of stuff that highlights how the heck I was a high schooler doing linguistics)
