Hi All,

Here is the latest episode with Sheena Shah from the University of Hamburg. Sheena is a Gujarati speaker and has worked with diaspora Gujarati speakers in London, Johannesburg, and Singapore. She has also done A LOT of fieldwork in Southern Africa and is currently doing a documentation project of siPhuthi. She has also done quite a lot of work with speakers of the N/uu language.

Yes! I thought her experiences as an insider researcher and an outsider researcher were really insightful. Also how this concept is not โ€œall or nothingโ€ was really interesting. Like when she was recounting working with Gujarati speakers in Singapore, she said she was an insider in terms of language but often an outsider in terms of religion, so that was an interesting dynamic to navigate.
