Hi folks, I’m happy to share that the platform I’ve been working on, Plaid (previously discussed), has reached a milestone alpha release, v0.2.0a0.
While there are still many sharp edges and I would not encourage anyone to use it for real documentation/annotation work yet, this is the first release of Plaid which all major pieces in place to support a complete basic workflow for language documentation and linguistic annotation.
Features include:
- A Universal Dependencies editor and an IGT editor which interoperate seamlessly without import/export
- Support for UD parsers in the UD editor and support for ASR, tokenization, and lexical linking services in the IGT interface
- A full audit log of all edits in both interfaces, including user attribution and “time travel” to past document states
- Full concurrent editing by multiple users
- Search/concordancing features in both interfaces

There’s still a lot more work to be done, including sanding down the rough edges in what’s already here and aiming to provide more import/export support, but my hope is to provide a beta quality release by August that is, say, “field methods course ready”.
